Our Story
Math Mindset Tutoring is an online tutoring service designed to help middle and high school students excel in Basic Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra, and Trigonometry through personalized instruction and flexible scheduling. The business addresses a growing issue: many students are struggling with math due to large class sizes, fast-paced lessons, and limited one-on-one support. As a result, students often lose confidence and fall behind in a subject that is foundational to their academic success.
To tackle this problem, Math Mindset Tutoring offers individualized virtual sessions that break down difficult concepts, provide targeted practice, and build each student’s confidence. Our approach is youth-led and relatable, making it easier for students to connect with their tutor. With engaging visuals, real-world examples, and positive reinforcement, we aim to create a supportive and productive learning environment. The business will be marketed through social media, word-of-mouth, and community outreach, with a focus on convenience, affordability, and results.
The purpose of this business is Education. Our mission is to make quality academic support accessible while promoting a positive, growth-focused mindset around learning. We are specifically targeting students in grades 7–10 and their families, particularly those preparing for key exams like the Algebra Regents or seeking extra help in upper-level math courses.
Our unique selling point is our ability to connect with students on a peer level, while still providing high-quality instruction. With the help of a $500 start-up grant from the Boss Up Citywide program, we plan to launch our first phase of the business and generate at least $1,000 in revenue in the first year by building a strong client base and later introducing downloadable study tools and digital resources. Over time, we aim to expand into group workshops and broaden our content offerings, ultimately growing both our impact and reach in the educational space.
